LIPOSUCTION

What is Liposuction?

High-Definition Liposuction (HD Lipo), also known as abdominal etching or liposculpture, is an advanced cosmetic body-contouring procedure designed to sculpt and define the body’s natural muscular anatomy rather than merely removing bulk fat.

Unlike traditional liposuction, which focuses on debulking broad areas of subcutaneous fat, HD Lipo utilizes precision technology—most commonly ultrasound energy (VASER) or power assistance (PAL)—to selectively liquefy and extract fat around muscle groups. The surgeon carefully shapes the superficial and deep fat layers to accentuate features like the rectus abdominis (“six-pack”), obliques, pectorals, and latissimus dorsi, creating a toned, athletic, and chiseled appearance.

Liposuction Expectations

Before the procedure, patients often ask: Is liposuction safe for weight loss? While liposuction is not a weight loss method, it is extremely effective for targeted fat reduction in localized areas. Liposuction results become visible as swelling subsides, and long-term maintenance includes healthy eating and regular exercise.

Post-Surgery Recovery

The lipo recovery timeline varies by patient, but most can resume daily activities within a few days. Our team will guide you with recovery tips for fat removal surgery to ensure smooth healing and long-lasting results. We also help patients understand what to expect after liposuction surgery, including wearing compression garments and managing swelling.

Liposuction will not drastically reduce your weight, nor should it. The small areas of fat that patients want to be treated with liposuction will not change their weight because the fat is not dense and, therefore, does not weigh very much.
You can expect the following: -Clear and bloody drainage from the incisions for the first few days. -Drainage may be significant for 72 hours and will dissipate. Mild to moderate pain in liposuctioned areas should be improved with pain medications. -Moderate swelling of the area. Swelling is to be expected for weeks and sometimes months. The swelling can improve with intermittent rest and compression garments.
